I have used the Henle Verlag (Urtext), the Joseffy and Mikuli (Schirmer), the Cortot (both original and newly translated to English), the Dover (supposedly Paderewski edition; it's not), and the actual Paderewski edition from the Frederic Chopin Institute... and THIS one is among the best when it comes to accuracy and fingering suggestions for the much harder etudes (i.e. the g# minor "thirds" etude). (Note: Have not tried the Badura-Skoda, G. Henle edition of the etudes - the bright reddish book)If you are just starting out, the Paderewski (not the Dover!) is a wonderful edition. If you are already a few ways into the etudes, or are just looking to have a good edition for whenever you choose to take them up again, then a healthy combination of both, the Cortot (it has an immeasurable wealth of practice exercises from which to choose for EACH etude's main point of technique) and this Ekier edition, is advised.If you're just dabbling into the simpler ones but don't intend to study in depth, then the Schirmer Joseffy is pretty good. I'd stay away from the Dover, despite having such a low price, simply because of the amount of errors they're known to make in many of their printings, be it classical music or novels. The Urtext (dark blue book) is an odd one, sometimes being great, while other times making questionable "Original Manuscript" decisions which are no longer held to be correct, or even performed that way (e.g. a note may have an accidental and completely change the overall harmonic progression, despite all other editions - and even the oldest recordings - having this note as part of the key signature).Anyway, whichever way you go, this is certainly an edition to keep in mind when taking a study of the etudes more seriously.

This is a really great edition of the Chopin Etudes. It is interesting to see how the notation in this edition differs from every other edition. I am not sure how you could have a more autoritative edition of Chopin's works

Yet to try out the pieces, but print and paper quality are good. Wish the binding would allow the book to sit flat, without needing to be bent backwards and worry about spoiling the book.

Good urtext.Could be cheaper, though.

Reliable with correct markings and notations as it is used in chopin international competition. This book is a great way to help with your journey on finishing your 27 etudes without wrong markings etc.

Do not doubt, buy this edition is excellent, BELIEVE ME! :D

I was skeptical of ordering this bc i saw the photos of how the book arrived but thought i'm sure they will improve on shipping it. And i was correct! It arrived in a Box & not only that the book was Plastic Wrapped! Well protected! Thank you! I only wish the book would stay open when in use.

Good shape

The thing that surprised me the most about this book was how fast it was written by the author/survivor after her experiences during World War II. Many survivors have said they needed to heal first, then write their books. So I admire her for that. I cried during this book. This is one of my favorite genres : Jewish holocaust survivor accounts. I've been reading them for 20 years. It just never gets old reading about what the Jews suffered and lost. This author acknowledged God's intervention more than once in her ordeals. This is as it should be.
