Really enjoyable book with all of Elton John's most well-known songs, and few I didn't recognize too. I am an advanced player (have been playing for 20 years) and can sight read this easily, but not so easily that it's boring. I find a lot of pop music far too easy to play and get tired of it quickly, but this is the perfect balance--doesn't require much effort at all to learn, but isn't just the same easy chords over and over. I would recommend this for other advanced players, or for intermediate players who are looking for a challenge. This was a great purchase!
I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my son (inspired by the Christmas Elton John "your song" commercial). He was at about a grade 8 level when he quit piano 3 years ago but still really enjoys sitting down to play. the music is not "sight readable" for him so not "easy play" but more something he can work on and master reasonably. Very nice book - all the good songs too. Shipped quickly
This book has many of Elton John's hits. I am very rusty on the piano so the music is turning out to be quite a challenge for me but that's just me. The book is perfect for anyone who is an experienced player. I'm taking things slowly as I refresh my memory but it's so satisfying when I get more lines down and can really hear the song how Elton John plays it. Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn EJ's songs!
I would consider this book to be more on the challenging side for the intermediate and non-advanced player. In particular, the key signatures and rhythms are pretty tough. Don't expect this to be a simplified book.
After picking up this books I felt the soul of Mr Elton John fill me. Within minutes I went from being a beginner to a pro. Be aware that I had the urge to curse of my audience (wife and dog) then storm out of the room. Overal good buy!
Wow this arrived the next day (on a Sunday) after I ordered! Love the book. I have another EJ book but the Easy Piano (since I was getting back into playing). I wanted something intermediate and this fits the bill.
I'm so happy I bought this book. It's huge!! So much music in it and all his classics of course.
