Very disappointing content. The book does not really contain specific details or tips beyond what Dr. Deb has on her website or that can be found elsewhere on the internet for free. Another reviewer noted Dr. Deb's expertise was well worth the price of the book -- that would be true if she had included more details. For example, Chapter 5 "Fill er up" is less than 2 pages. The first page features a large photo of a garden made from wine bottles that takes up half the page; the diagram on the second page which simply repeats her simple formula of "3 buckets of browns to 1 bucket of green" takes up more than two-thirds of the page. That's it. No discussion of various recyclable materials (e.g. are magazines with glossy covers & plastic coating ok to use? What about cans, is there any value to adding aeration by layering cans as another gardening expert suggests?). No discussion of what kinds of manure are acceptable and which aren't (Can I use fresh horse or cow manure? Or does it need to dry out? Can I dump my guinea pig cage contents in there?) Plus no guidance on exactly how to "fill er up." Do we need to line the keyhole garden with cardboard? Do we need to soak it first? Do we need to provide aeration or anything to help with drainage? Do we need to do anything for pH or nutrient balance? Chapter 6 "Bring on the Plants" is also 2 pages, with four photos and text that says little more than to consult seed catalogs, read the Farmer's Almanac, and contact your local agriculture extension service to choose plants. That's it. The book is nothing more than an introduction to the concept of keyhole gardening, at best. I'm very sorry I spent my money on this and will quickly trade the book in. I wouldn't even gift it to a friend, as it has such little value.

This book explains more of the details about keyhole gardening but also about ways to obtain materials and work with groups to build these projects.

Artificial Intelligence is here. It is a part of the US Military - drones. It is a part of our entertainment - from offering customized recommendations on Friday night movies (as in the case of Netflix) to delivering sports match highlights during live TV coverage. It is in our healthcare at the basic level of monitoring and alerting and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) backed by artificial intelligence could restore those fundamental experiences to those who feared them lost forever. It is in our communication - social media is a playground for bot creators, and while it really isn't AI just yet, we are fast approaching a time when the bot sequence (messaging sequence in response to an inquiry or keyword or phrase) will learn from each encounter with a human and be able to make a decision about how to engage further with the human. It is in our financial districts - used to predict moves in the stock market. It is the search engine of the internet, Google - creating and refining semantic. More importantly, I believe it is vital that we understand that there is no Standard of Ethics being used by the creators, the makers, of AI programs.Which is why I am so glad that Jim Blasingame wrote The 3rd Ingredient, The Journey of Analog Ethics into the World of Digital Fear and Greed. He is concerned about the ethics of the makers of AI and the users - not the ethics of the program itself (though that is an idea being explored by others), and is concerned about you and me as the partner/user. His unique style of telling the history of commerce between humans, the development of trust, and setting of standards for commerce helped me to visualize the intangibles of Faith, Trust, and Ethics. Until recently in our human history, each transaction in commerce occurred between humans. We could 'read' the other person's body language, we could discern whether or not we were dealing with someone who 'spoke our language' in terms of culture and experiences, while trusting ourselves to know whether or not they were shysters or simply experienced negotiators. As time passes, we are able to adjust to the introduction of new ways of completing transactions and new monetary offerings.Now add digital communications and commerce. There is a level of unease and distrust among the general population and it is based on the 'not knowing' if their information is safe in the realm of Privacy. Humans bring their analog selves - their emotions, their experiences, their knowledge - to the interaction, while AI and computer programs bring only the facts and cold Do This/Do That/If This/Then That. Here's the rub...we humans are currently changing our views on the use of AI and how we interact with it, dangerously close to leaving our analog ethics behind. This book made me do more thinking than any other book I've read in recent memory. And that's a good thing! I knew, from the title alone, that I'd probably enjoy it -- after all, O'Henry is one of my favorites and the concept of this book aptly draws from his short story by the same name. But I didn't expect that even the Table of Contents would cause me to look at human history and our role in shaping the future so closely.It gets even better. The stories throughout the book are riveting. Each one pertains to how ethics, fear, and greed have affected human development. Each one contributes to understanding where we are now and how we got here. And each one provides food for thought as we enter a new age where analog and digital meet. Our quest for the third ingredient that will bring it all together and help us rediscover equilibrium is well-described and championed.Instead of putting this on my bookshelf, I'm keeping this one on my coffee table. It keeps rattling around in my head, so I know I'll be perusing those pages again sometime soon!

The Shakespeare Stealer was by far one of the best historical fiction books I have ever read. I started off by having to read this book for school but I enjoyed it so much that I went on to read Shakespeare's Scribe and Shakespeare's Spy. The reason I give this book only four stars is because the first two or three chapters drag on and are hard to get through. Once you get through Widge's life as an orphan and his apprenticeship at Dr. Bright's the book is action packed and forces you to read, and read, and read on. Unlike some books I have read in the past The Shakespeare Stealer has a very satisfying ending. This was a great book and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventurous books! :-)

This novel set in Elizabethan England captures the sights and sounds of that time period accurately. I use it as a novel study for Grade Eight students, because it augments the study of The Renaissance so well.The characters are well developed and interesting. The author's use of humour to sustain the reader's interest helps to keep reluctant readers engaged, Customs of daily life give lots of opportunities for discussion.This novel, first of three, motivates readers to continue reading the series - a bonus for parents and teachers who are looking for books for boys and girls who don't like to read.

The opinion here is 100% my own.The Grace of God by Andy Stanley presents the different ways that grace shows up in the Bible and in our daily lives. Grace is an idea and subject I never really thought about much in the past. This book is a very good introduction for someone like myself who, although raised Catholic, is very ignorant about Christianity.Stanley takes the time to explain Biblical passages but does not go too far or make conjectures. I appreciate that he used bold text to highlight the main points in each chapter.This book is encouraging and reminds people that grace is offered and cannot be earned, and is nothing anyone deserves. It doesn't matter who the person is or what their past has been.I feel like I learned a lot about faith by reading this book, and I learned a lot about myself as well.

I have struggled with the concept of grace for most of my Christian life, and so I chose this book to help me understand it better. Andy Stanley has a dynamic style of writing and speaking that makes the subject come alive. I feel like I have learned a great deal from this book about grace, and I found more than a little to continue to mull over in the days to come. A great book on the subject!

If you have struggled understanding Grace then this book is for you. It is not based on anything I do or not do. It is based purely on love. This story if you will, is so anointed! Just embrace every thing that is in this book. Little chunks at a time, meditate, read every Scripture used and know that your mind and heart will be transformed. Hallelujah!

I always enjoy reading Andy Stanley's books as well as listenning to his numerous podcasts from North Point current series, archives and leadership talks. As such I know that when Andy writes his ideas and quotable sentences, it is most likely carefully crafted piece of well thought art, and it is a well of wisdom for other leaders and speakers like me.The Grace of God is different book than other Andy's work. While normally he would write the book based on one series he would have in North Point Church (such as It Came From Within; How Good is Good Enough; The Princliple of Path; Choosing to Cheat), this is actually based on several different series that Andy spoke, such as last year Christmas series, Loosing my Religion, and so on, but (as he says in the beginning of the book), he point out from these messages subject of grace even when his original message was about something else. As I was reading the book, I remembered the messages where I heard these stories and principles, however, it was all quite fresh because of this until now hidden underlying link of God's grace. As such, the book felt very different.If I am not mistaken, Andy normally writes either principle based books on life or leadership books, but this could be easily considered his first ever book on theological matter, even though it is still written in fresh, conversational and practical Andy's signature style. If more of this would follow, I can't honestly wait to get them and read them!

This is a great read and I highly recomend this to anyone!! Quote: In Gods story, you are the focus of a celebration. Not what you've done. You. You were lost and have been found. You were dead, and now you are alive. You were blind, and now you see. You said yes to his offer of grace. That's the best news God will ever recieve about you. in your story you are going to continue searching for a reason God should love you. In your story you are going to continue finding reasons he shouldn't. So here's my suggestion: give up your version of your story and embrace his.In his story, he loves you no matter what you have done. In his story, he doesn't love you because of what you have done. In his story, he could not love you more and he will never love you less!! Praise the Lord for his wonderful Grace to all man kind!!!

Having read this book twice now, I find it a stimulating view of God's grace not presented to me before. It definitely piques the curiosity and forces a valuable rethinking of the breadth, width, and height dimensions of the subject. I found it refreshing, and a stimulator of great discussion in our weekly Ladies & Gents Adult Bible Study. We're gaining a much broader understanding of how God works among those He has chosen to be His own.

An excellent, well-written, and much-needed addition to the very few good books out there on Grace. If the church could get back to basics a little more on this topic - true Grace - not anything goes spiritual anarchy - our pews would start filling back up. This book would be a great place to start for Bible groups around the world!

I recently ordered "The Grace of God" by Andy Stanley. It is an exceptional book! Andy does a great job of giving simple and detailed information starting with Genesis and going through the Old and New Testament showing from before the beginning of time that Grace was given.God created the Earth and GAVE it to Adam and Eve. He came to them in the garden to communicate with them. When they sinned, HE gave them their clothing...We serve an incredible God. A God who is short on rules, long on grace and love! Our God is the only one true God. Our God is the only God who created. Our God has an empty tomb...all other god's tombs are occupied.It is an excellent book!

I didn’t finish and I was really looking forward to it. The author was so intent on making sure the reader knew how he came to his conclusions that, for me, it ended up deadening the impact of grace in the academic explainations

It is said that one cannot tell a book by its cover. My first reaction upon seeing the cover was that this would be yet another one of those picture books - fun, but lacking substance. My advice: open the book and peruse the contents. Take your time. Read the captions. I am sure most afficianados of antique aircraft will agree, this book - though a little long in the tooth - is one of the best of its type. The photography, which includes a good mixture of aircraft on the ground, airborne, and air-to-air, is breathtaking, certainly of the quality readers of "Wind in the Wires" will have encountered, or the "Skytruck" books of Stephen Piercey, for that matter.Most of the oldies in this book are based in the UK, and most are British designs. That means aircraft that not only performed well, but were also aesthetically pleasing. I have always found the designs of De Havilland, Hawker, and Supermarine to be among the most beautiful in the world. That is not to say that the other aircraft built by Miles, Bristol, Avro, Sopwith, Gloster, and several others are by any means ugly!David Davies, a longtime aviation reporter, photographer, and pilot, breaks down his collection as follows: First, there is "Magnificent Flying Machines," which include the beautiful replicas built for one of my favorite films of all time, "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines," such as the Bristol Boxkite and Avro Mark IV. There are also genuine antiques, among the oldest flying specimens in the world. These i nclude a Bleriot XI, a Deperdussin Type B, and a Blackburn Monoplane. Second, there is "Knights of the Air," a tribute to those stalwart fighters of the First World War. These include such legends as the S.E.5A; Avro 504K; Sopwith Scout, Pup, and Triplane, Nieuport 28; Bristol F.2B; and an LVG C.VI, the only genuine flying German two-seater. Third, there is "Moth Magic," chronicling the various variations of the De Havilland Moth series, with a D.H.51 thrown in for good measure. There are also the cabin biplanes, the Gypsy and Hornet Moths, as well as a Moth Minor. Fourth is the section called "Speed Seekers," where the meticulously restored D.H.88 Comet racer G-ACSS, winner of the 1934 Robertson trophy, is the star. Another aircraft shown is British Aerospace's De Havilland Mosquito, RR299. These photos are poignant - and rare - as this aircraft was to crash several years later, in 1996, killing its crew. Other aircraft built for speed are the Percival E.1 Mew Gull, Miles M.2L Hawk Speed Six, and Percival Type D Gull, all champion throroughbreads. The fifth capter, "Open-Top Style," features a number of interwar biplanes and monoplanes from the US and England. The sixth, "Yankee Doodle," continues with interwar trainers, such as the PT-13 and PT-17 Stearman Kaydet, Fairchild PT-19 and PT-23, and Vultee Valiant; while the seventh chapter takes us back to the UK with "Vintate RAF," featuring such classics as the Avro 621 Tutor and Hawker Tomtit, both Avro 504 replacements, resplendent in period yellow and aluminized silver. We are also treated to a lovely Hawer Hart and a rare Gloster Gladiator, not to mention the equally rare Miles M.14 Magister. Just as I was wondering what happened to one of my favorites, the De Havilland D.H.89 Dragon Rapide, two are featured at the end, though I wish there were one or two more.All in all, the book is a very enjoyable tour, made all the more magical by the stunning backdrops, which really accentuate the timelessness of these antique aircraft. My main recommendation would have been to change the title to Antique and Classic Wings - in Britain. The only U.S. pictures are from the annual Sun and Fun fly-in at Lakeland, Florida; there is nothing from such museums as Rhinebeck - Mr. Davies should have kept the book to aircraft preserved and flying in the U.K., most of which are part of the world-reknowned Shuttleworth Collection. That quibble aside, this is a book well worth having. As an avid photographer and a lover of old airplanes, for me this book has been, and will be, a real treat.
